LUISS

Guido Carli Free International University of Social Sciences

LUISS was established as an autonomous university between 1974 and 1978, emerging from a pre-existing institution: Pro Deo. The university focuses on teaching social sciences, particularly law, economics, management, finance, and political science. It offers its students an advanced educational model, prestigious professors, and a strong international network.

Brand Architecture and Brand Design in the name of continuous evolution

The university is a perpetual construction site, where students represent the upward progression of the columns, and the capital is the natural completion. Hence, the meaning of the LUISS symbol icon, ‘the capital,‘ which is associated with knowledge.

Student is a word of Latin origin and derives from studium, painstaking application. The pillar rests firmly on its base to rise and support the entablature: it is not a column, but a human construction, erected block by block, bottom up.

From the column to the capital, the symbol of LUISS. It is the fragment that connects the student to the column, building the university’s new narrative around this representation.

Type Design and Editorial Design for a code of belonging

The LUISS Typeface was specifically designed for the University and is available to everyone—students and faculty alike. It serves as an ambassador of LUISS values and embodies the universal dissemination of knowledge.

LUISS Type is a code that sparks sharing and belonging, expressing a unique style.
