CISL

CISL Brings Together

CISL (Italian Confederation of Workers’ Trade Unions) is Italy’s leading trade union with a Catholic and reformist foundation, representing over 4 million members across 19 sector federations. Founded in 1950, it promotes workers’ rights, social dialogue, and collective bargaining, addressing key issues such as employment, welfare, and democratic participation, with the aim of improving working conditions and overall quality of life.

Brand identity and brand design. Unity and Belonging

CISL’s identity is rooted in the idea of a renewed trade union, placing participation and work at its core. The brand identity, designed by Inarea in 1993 and updated in 2010, simplifies and modernizes the institution’s visual language, reinterpreting its historical and chromatic elements with continuity. The circular symbol evokes meeting and sharing, while the tricolour and Helvetica Neue typeface convey dialogue, tradition, and connection. The logo—featuring the name both inside and outside the circle—creates an immediate and versatile visual code: the coloured fields can expand into “clouds” of text, reinforcing the concepts of exchange and participation. Thanks to its circular structure, the logo also functions as a container for the logotypes of organizations and entities connected to CISL, ensuring coherence and consistency in communication while accommodating diverse identities within a unified system.

Communication design. For a Unified Voice

CISL’s communication applies the symbol and logotype consistently across all touchpoints, from digital platforms to printed materials, ensuring coherence and recognizability. Websites, social media, forms, editorial content, and signage all follow precise guidelines on color, typography, and brand proportions, creating a unified visual language that positions the union as a space for dialogue and expresses its values of participation and connection across every channel.
